Skeletal muscle groups

The skeletal muscles include: back muscles, that help a person to maintain an upright position, they are involved in breathing; muscles of the chest — intercostal muscles and the diaphragm; abdominal muscles, that are involved in the forward and side flexion of the torso. They form the abdominals, whose main function is to keep the internal organs in a certain position, participating in breathing, promote urination, fecal excretion, labor; upper limb muscles (human has especially developed small muscles of the hand, so that it can perform the most complex activities); lower limb muscles — the strongest (they perform the function of support and movement); facial muscles in their functions divided into chewing and mimic (diagram 34).

Complex contractions of facial muscles reflect the emotional state: sadness, joy, anger, sorrow, surprise and delight. In contrast to skeletal, mimic muscles are attached to the bone with one end, and to the skin or mucosa with another. Their bundles interwove with bundles of other muscles at the place of their attachment. Contracting, they form folds, raise lips, move nostrils. Almost 100 muscles take part in the facial movements.
