Plant growth

As a result of metabolism, i.e. processes of assimilation and dissimilation, the plant builds its body, increasing in weight and volume.

Growth is a very complex process that leads to the formation of new structures in the cell and in the organism as a whole. The most successful understanding of the complexity of growth processes expressed D. A. Sabinin, who gave the concept of growth in the following definition:

Growth is a neoformation of structure elements in the body.

By structure elements D. A. Sabinin understand various microscopic and submicroscopic structures in the protoplasm and cell membrane. The weight and volume of the plant increase during the growth.

By the growth of the plant, we understand the increase in weight and volume associated with new formation of body structure elements.
