Medicine is a science, aimed at the strengthening and preservation of human health, increasing duration of his life, prevention of diseases and treatment of patients. “Father” of medicine is considered to be an ancient Greek physician Hippocrates.

Hygiene — is the branch of medicine that develops and implements methods of preventing disease, studying the influence of different environmental and manufacture factors of human health. Ecology — is the science of the relationships of organisms with each other and with the environment. Psychology explores the human psyche. Valeology — the science that studies the biological and social bases of formation, preservation, strengthening, reconstruction and transfer of health to descendants.

Fundamentals of modern biological sciences of human body were laid in the XIX-XX centuries by outstanding scientists: Jean B. Lamarck, Darwin, Linnaeus, J. Blumenbach, Virchow, I. Sechenov, N. Pirogov, I. Pavlov, S. Botkin, D. Vvedensky, A. Zavarzin, L. Orbeli, V. Patpadin, P. Anokhin. A significant contribution in development of these studies was made by Ukrainian scientists: A.
